Lady Stoneheart -- Painting (III) - The Hooded Cloak. . . and COMPLETION!

Lady Stoneheart is now DONE!

All that remained to be done was the hooded cloak. As this turned out to be a 3+ hr. undertaking, I am glad I waited until everything was just right. . .

There are still a few loose ends remaining, and the invariable chromatic integration; but other than that, the latest entry in my Game of Thrones collection can be deemed completed!

Che - Painting: Hair and Beret

This is effectively the "home stretch" posting. . .

I have just completed Phase 1+ of the hair, using Mars Black, Ivory Black, and a proprietary mix of Raw Umber and French Ultramarine Blue. I have also glazed the eyes, and started "finishing touch-ups" on the face and flesh.

I hope to be able to finalize the hair tomorrow, and proceed with the beret. If I can accomplish that this weekend, this piece will be in the cabinet by next weekend!

FOLLOW-UP 10.03.2018. . . Save for the Comandante's star, the bust is now effectively DONE! The time has come to start tying-off the loose-ends that remain. . . UPDATE. . . The star is now done! I decided to tackle this in NMM, taking advantage of the sharply-defined planes of the insignia. I may hit the super-highlights/ridges with printers' ink once dry, but I will make that call when the time comes. . .

Che - Painting: Jacket and Hand

As you can surmise from the post's title, El Che is fully assembled and all-but-done!

Once the flesh was done, things unfolded rather rapidly. And I attribute this in no small way to the overall design of the piece! Yet another advantage of having a designer/sculptor who is also at the top of his game with a brush!!

All that remains to be painted is the hair and the beret. The bust will be on the home-stretch by the weekend!

Che - Painting: Intermezzo

With the flesh on the torso effectively completed, I decided to permanently transfer the bust to its display base.

Che - Painting: The Face

The game is underway in earnest! I am now about halfway done with the face and neck of Che, and I couldn't be more pleased.

I used what I refer to as a "short palette", sticking to strictly natural tones (+ Mars Black, given the framework of hair and the beret) applied using linseed oil as the carrier.

More to follow. . .

UPDATE 04.03.2018. . . The face and flesh (save for the hand) are essentially done! There re- mains a considerable amount of "touch-ups, etc.", but these will be addressed throughout the remainder of the work as synthesizing elements.
