With the progress so far I have a good idea of the size relationship of his face/head and the kabuto. I'm assuming the kabuto was made of wood? If not then what? And, how much would it have weighed? His neck must have been as srtong as any athlete today!!
The kabuto was made of iron/steel, but the built-up crest--the infamous catfish tail--was most likely made of laminated wood.
As to the weight, that I have no idea. I would imagine 2-3lbs over the weight of a bare kabuto, which would put it in the 5-7lbs range overall. Not extraordinary by any means.
What would have put a strain on the neck was not the weight, but the length of the crest. It is no wonder that most daimyō would not done their kabuto until the moment of going into battle. . .
