Vampire Bat - Painting (III)

With a little over a week to go, I was finally able to break out the oils on the Bat!

Tonight, I did the grey of his torso. If everything goes as planned (and people call me a "pessimist"--HA!), I'll have the cape and cowl done by the end of the weekend.

  1. EXCELLENT!!! I'm starting to salivate at the prospect of this piece being completed. This all sounds good.

From the images you have already posted I see a "hint" of an embroided bat on the chest of his tunic. Am I right about that? If so, wil it be painted in yellow?

Speaking of colors and images is there a chance of an ip shot of this or any other piece being worked on?

    Keep up the greeaaatttt work!!!

  2. Hey guy!

You sound like you're back to your old self--GREAT to see/hear?/read?? !

It's not so much an appliquéd/embroidered bat as a scribed bat. Nevertheless. . . GOOD EYE! ;-) The Vampire Bat has a black bat. While the bat, as engraved, is too big to have a yellow cartouche, you raise a good point: Jones is inconsistent, even within the same story(!), re: the yellow surround.

I am going to try to post some ip images of some/all the pieces on the table before Tuesday.

    Off to the bench!
